Lilliput miniature book of Maori Place Names (1962) by A.W. Reed +

RARE and HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE!!! Lilliput is a tiny book of A-Z Maori Place Names which is extremely rare and highly collectible, measuring 3.5cm x 5cm, in good condition bearing in mind its age. It has 567 pages and this is the first edition dated 1962. The Sovereign Book Stand features the Koruru (carved human face) of Maori tradition. Carving was a form of ornamentation used by the Maori people on their most valued possessions. Houses, food, stores, gateposts, stockades, clubs, spears, drinking funnels, canoe balers, treasure boxes and burial chests were decorated by carving. The Koruru, carved in many forms, but usually with staring paua shell eyes and defiant protruding tongue was a prominent feature of all Maori carvings. A must have book for the most avid of collectors!!!!
